GRANADA HILLS, CA is located in the San Fernando Valley, North of Los Angeles. Granada Hills straddles Highway 118 on the north side of the San Fernando Valley, just west of the 405 fwy. South of Highway 118 the housing runs to middle income. North of the freeway, the housing becomes newer and rises in size. Estimated population, 46,000. Knollwood, a country-club subdivision located north of the freeway, is considered part of Granada Hills. Crime in the Granada Hills area is fairly low in comparison with the rest of the Los Angeles area. Some upper-income neighborhoods have security services to augment L.A. police. School ranking's range, but many come in well above 50th percentile. South of Highway 118, Granada Hills, North Hills and Northridge glides into one another and except the occasional street sign and vague map designation the communities, where they meet, are almost indistinguishable. All three boomed in the decades following World War II. All favored middle-class tract homes, mostly three bedrooms. All are towns of the City of Los Angeles and served by the Los Angeles Unified School District.
